As the possibility of a partial government shutdown looms and the Senate is poised to vote on a Space-passed government-funding measure that might avert a shutdown, Senate Minority Chief Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., introduced on Thursday that he “will vote to stay the federal government open and no longer close it down.”
He mentioned that whilst the “invoice may be very dangerous, the opportunity of a shutdown has penalties for The us which are a lot, a lot worse.”
The senator’s announcement caused pushback from some Democrats.
“I will not underscore sufficient how improper this is,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., mentioned of Schumer’s argument. “What vote casting for this CR does is that it codifies the chaos and the reckless cuts that Elon Musk has been pursuing, the robbing of our federal authorities with a view to finance tax cuts for billionaires is what is occurring.
